I like this idea pretty much. Maybe an ability to use two or more heroes per stage can be bought on the sequel

I think two would be plenty, a melee and a ranged hero could be pretty effective, and they would be easy to manage. :D

If I had heroes for my own personal hero room, these would be the ones I pick.

Knight: An armored mounted unit with extreme movement speed, great attack, and above average armor.
Weapon: Spear
Skills: Charge, Throwing Spear, Courage.

Paladin: A slow but heavily armored unit with self healing capabilities.
Weapon: Shield and Sword
Sills: Self Heal, Divine Shield, Holy Strike.

Barbarian: A light armored unit with very powerful attacks.
Weapon: Axe
Skills: Cleave, Rage, Battle Cry.

Assassin: A fast and evasive unit with weak but quick attacks.
Weapon: Double Daggers
Skills: Cripple, Blur, Back-stab.

Elemental Mage: Low health & armor but very powerful magic attacks.
Weapon: Fireballs
Skills: Earthquake, Flash Freeze ,Tempest Tornado.

Arcane Wizard: A mysterious unit that uses powers of the mind, also able to shift space and time to an extent (i.e. freeze time, teleport, etc.)
Weapon: Mind Assault (using that headache pose kilele mentioned)
Skills: Stop Time, Hypnotize, Warp.

Priest: Slightly weak unit, but powerful healing capabilities, and average durability.
Weapon: Light Rays
Skills: Group Heal, Blinding Light, Resurrection (revives upto 3 units fallen in last 10 seconds, more units with hero level)

Necromancer: Able to use powers of necromancy and dark magic.
Weapon: Ball of Darkness
Skills; Summon Skeleton, Lifesteal, Curse.

Ranger: Fast and quick unit that attacks from a range.
Weapon: Bow
Skills: Poison, Multishot, Rapid Fire.

Crossbowmen: Slow but average armored unit that attacks from a range.
Weapon: Crossbow
Skills: Chained Bolt, Pierce, Flaming Bolt.

Musketeer: Slow, but powerful unit that attacks from great distance.
Weapon: Musket
Skills: Headshot, Shotgun, Snipe.

Bomber: Average speed unit with slightly powerful AoE attacks.
Weapons: Portable Cannon
Skills: Cluster Bomb, Homing Missile, Landmine.

I like the barbarian, assassin, arcane wizard and crossbowmen,
but above all the priest who would give more strategy to the game, he might be really useful to use in the survival mode
