Hello, Generals!
Before we dive in, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who tuned in to our first Kingdom Rush Genesis gameplay reveal this Tuesday. Seeing the community show up with so much energy and passion means the world to us, and we are genuinely grateful for every General who joined the stream.
We also want you to know that we have been reading your comments carefully, on the stream, in Discord, Steam, Reddit, everywhere. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we are listening. We'll have more to share in the coming weeks as things take shape.
For now, let's get back to this week's Devlog. This week, we're laying the foundations, literally. We're taking you to Stage 1, the very first battle in the game: the Linirean Citadel.

If you've played Kingdom Rush before, you know the Castle of Linirea as a symbol of the Kingdom, standing proud in countless battles across the saga. But that's not the castle Gerald finds when he first travels back in time. What greets him is a construction site, with walls still going up and workers everywhere. This is Linirea in its earliest days, when the Kingdom was still being literally built, brick by brick. We wanted the tutorial stage to feel like a beginning, both narratively and visually. Keep an eye out for little details scattered around the construction site, we had a lot of fun hiding nods to iconic Kingdom Rush locations that Generals will one day come to know well.

A fun behind-the-scenes detail: when we started designing this stage, we explored a few layouts that would really show off the castle in all its glory. In the end, though, we decided to reuse the layout from Kingdom Rush Vengeance's Linirean Castle, because it reinforces visually that this is the exact same place. We want veteran Generals to instantly feel that connection across time.
Watching over all of this is King Denas Sr., the old King of Linirea, ruling in the days before his young son, Prince Denas, takes the throne. He stands tall and proud, determined to see his vision realized. But the Kingdom's enemies aren't waiting for the mortar to dry. Bandit raids are a common occurrence on the construction site, and it falls to Gerald and the first wave of Linirean defenders to protect the walls, the workers, and the future of the realm.

Bandits will be a recurring threat in these early stages, and for good reason. As we mentioned back in the Zefira devlog, the Arcane Academy itself is also under siege from raiders trying to loot arcane secrets. Linirea in this era is young, ambitious, and very much a target. There's more to these shadowy figures than meets the eye, but that's a story for another Friday…
That's it for this week, Generals. Thank you again for walking this road with us, and for the passion you bring to the Kingdom Rush community. Next Friday, we're taking a closer look at one of the game's heaviest hitters: the Royal Catapult.
Remember to wishlist the game and subscribe to the newsletter so you never miss an update!
Onward!
