Hello, Generals!

It is Friday, which means a new Genesis devlog. Only this time the game is already in your hands.

We've released a Kingdom Rush game five times before and it doesn't get any smaller. Here is how the ritual goes for us: we crowd around one screen, we count down from 10, press the button, throw confetti (see the video!) and suddenly two years of work stop being ours. Then we hold our breaths and keep a very close eye on all of your comments and reviews popping up.

Many of you jumped on Genesis on day 1. So much so, that the game made it onto Steam's Trending Games frontpage, and ranked Top Strategy and Top Paid game on the App Store. Thank you, that's all you!

Your reactions

We learned that we weren't the only ones gathered on September 24th to celebrate Genesis. Turns out that in Chengdu, China, there was an offline launch event at a gaming cafe: a room full of Generals playing together in person on day one, nine time zones and 18,120 kilometers away from where we were gathered in our office in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Meanwhile, the internet was where the real action was! We've been watching your streams, memes, and reactions.  We'd like to hand over the microphone now and share a few that got to us:

An absolute step-up compared to Vengeance and Alliance. The main campaign felt like it wasn't filler and each level tried to do it's own little thing. The towers and heroes are diverse and gotta say dang you guys locked in ~ cloudisDum

I'm really liking this one so far. A lot of the systems such as the heroes and spells are more fleshed out. There also seems to just be a lot more content in general, epsecially since every level has like five different game modes to play. And of course it's filled with the classic Kingdom Rush charm, from the amazing art style to the little things in the levels you can interact with.  ~ Sir. Gameboy

Peak tower defence game. So much better than Vengeance and Alliance. The pacing and difficulty are on great level and heroes, towers and spells are fun to use! ~ Diron

My kingdom was indeed rushed. This may be the Frontiers rival I have been waiting for! ~ No Drama Baby Llama

This game is all i wanted from ironhide after all these years. As a die hard og kr fan im very happy about this game. I couldnt think a better mode than classic rush, and the others seems lot fun too! Ironhide really cooked this time. ~  Prize-Radish1522

We even got very exciting Fan Art celebrating the release by braki, which honestly blew our minds:

Of course, they can't all be positives, and there's always room for improvement.

Over these next few days you can expect mostly bug fixes as we squash the issues that have been popping up. See known issues and workarounds here.

After that, we'll carefully review all the feedback you're sharing in the reviews and comments, from every corner of the community. Some of you have told us some fights feel unfair rather than challenging, which is not what we're going for, so we're paying close attetion to get the balance just right. Your reviews have been a great read so far, and they're genuinely useful to us.

If you haven't left your review yet, please do, we'd love to hear what you think!

What comes next

Some of you already spotted this roadmap on Steam, but it's worth sharing again.

We've confirmed two mini-campaign updates, each with 3 stages, 1 hero, 1 tower and 1 spell, dropping this year. There's a lot left on the roadmap after that, so exciting things are coming for the game!

With this news, we wrap the last of our weekly devlogs. We started in March and put one out every Friday since. To anyone who read these, thank you for coming along, whether you've been here since day zero or found us somewhere in the last thirty weeks! You've made these months even more exciting. We'll keep posting, just whenever there's something worth your time!

One last thing. Remember when you asked if Gerald could please have his helmet back?
Take him for a run on Classic Rush Mode, and see what happens.

Now go defend the Kingdom.

Onward!
